Junior Service League of Brazosport is rich in tradition and history. Since its founding in 1970, the Junior Service League of Brazosport has been committed to improving our community through programs of education and volunteerism. Since its inception over fifty years ago when eight women met to establish a service organization, other women have joined in the effort to make a positive impact in our community. With over 275 active and sustaining members, thousands of volunteer hours have been dedicated to meeting the needs of the Brazosport community.
Although the last year was unlike anything we could have imagined, we still found a way to help our community. Our active members are the heart and soul of this organization. They take the initiative to serve our community in various capacities with our community partners and fill other needs. Some of their volunteering is done within JSL activities, while some carries over into their family life as they model their servant hearts for the next generation.
This year, Junior Service League of Brazosport has many women who have stepped up to serve on the board as executive officers and board members. Their ideas, actions and goals will continue to shape our organization as we go forward. Their leadership will provide our members with the guidance, support, and inspiration to be the best version of themselves. I am excited to see what we can accomplish this service year.
I am honored to serve as the President of the Junior Service League of Brazosport for the 2021-2022 service year. This organization has fulfilled my life in so many ways and given me an opportunity to develop new skills. I have found many new ways to serve in my community together with other women who want to make our community stronger. Along the way I have made wonderful friends and found women who challenge me to be a better version of myself.
I am confident our members will continue to open their hearts and their eyes to the needs of others. We will continue to work together in fulfilling our organization’s mission and purpose. A quote from Martin Luther King sums it up beautifully, “Life’s most persistent and urgent questions is, what are you doing for others?”
